INTEREUROPA, d.d., Koper

Intereuropa Group has established car transports from Koper to Moscow by railway

Koper, 17 March 2008. Today, the thirteenth car-carrying train in the organization of Intereuropa has been despatched from the Port of Koper, loaded with cars for Russia. The first railway composition left Koper already at the end of February. Each train is loaded with 160-180 automobiles, all of which are carried to Tuzser (Hungary), where the cars are re-loaded and continue their voyage towards their end destination - the new Intereuropa Logistics Hub Moscow-Chechow.

The Intereuropa new Logistics Hub Moscow-Chechow, located on the important transport route Moscow-Kiev (M-2) and covering an area of 45 hectare, is still under construction; the completion is scheduled for this year. Despite that, the Logistics Centre which accommodates a car terminal that is currently in test operation has already recorded revenue from car logistics, which will be its core function. At present, the car terminal can accommodate about 11,000 automobiles and 100 trucks; this volume was already achieved last year, as well as in February 2008. The daily turnover (fluctuation) is 500 cars in arrival and departure. An accelerated development is expected upon the facility completion, which will allow car terminal operation with full capacity. The final capacity of the logistics terminal will be approximately at 15,000 - 16,000 cars. To date, there were 40,000 cars handled and parked in the car terminal already. A major advantage of Intereuropa is its own railway station in Moscow; the logistics hub has got three rail tracks with the separate unloading ramps for cars and for general cargo.

Intereuropa has established regular car transports to the Russian market by railway, on the route Koper-Tuzser-Chechow. Due to different rail track gauge in the territory of the former Soviet Union, the trains arrive at Tuzser (Hungary) first and the cars are transhipped there; then they roll on to their end destination - the new Intereuropa Logistics Hub Moscow-Chechov. On the route from Koper to Tuszer, each train carries 160-180 cars, while from Tuzser to Czechow, as many as 320 cars are transported on one train. After the launch at the end of February, a total of 2,500 cars have already been carried from the Koper Port (arriving from the Far East) to Russia by railway. The yearly volume of car transports from the Koper Port to Moscow is estimated to 75,000 cars; in addition to that, Intereuropa plans to carry additional 50,000 cars from Kalingrad to Moscow.

The frequency and timing of rail transports from Koper to Moscow is closely matched with the arrivals of ships from the Far East bound for Koper; each car-carrier brings 1,000 to 2,000 cars for the Russian market. The comprehensive range of services offered by the Intereuropa Group, the widely-spread corporate network and the capacity to satisfy a variety of needs of our customers are a firm basis for logistical operations on a high quality level: on that basis the Asian car manufacturer entrusted Intereuropa with the exclusive logistics for all cars to be transported from the Koper Port to the entire Russian market. Such a large quantity of cars that are being loaded in Koper and carried to Russia, according to tight schedule, needs careful planning and combining railway transports with trucking on the route Koper - Csop, where they are reloaded on railcars. The trucking services are also provided by Intereuropa with its specialized trucks for car transports.

The Intereuropa Group performs railway transports through its related company Intereuropa-FLG d.o.o. Ljubljana, which is specialized in rail transport and has a variety of rented railcars or train compositions resp., for a wide range of goods. The Company organizes transports on the 5th and 10th Corridor and can benefit from the synergies of the related Ukrainian company Zahidtransservice Ltd. in Uzhgorod, which is also specialized in railway transports, and another Russian sister company Intereuropa-East d.o.o. in Moscow, as well as with the related companies of the Intereuropa Group located in the territory of the former Yugoslavia. A special department for continental transport specialized in trucking services and railway transport will be organized within the Intereuropa-East d.o.o. as a connecting platform between the European Union and Russia (and vice versa), which supports the connection among the Intereuropa Group network in the EU and its daughter companies in the Eastern regions.

The integration in global logistics flows, a round-off corporate network and on-going development of both the network and business is a constant feature of Intereuropa. Intereuropa d.d. and its Russian daughter company, Intereuropa-East d.o.o., Moscow, are currently negotiating with numerous car manufacturers who have filed their enquiries for storage and handling of cars in the Intereuropa logistics terminal in Moscow-Čechov. Also large international logistics providers seek for car logistics services in the Russian market.

In addition to the stronger position of Intereuropa in the Ukrainian market and establishment of the logistics terminal in Csop, the Intereuropa Group already has a project in preparation on a regular weekly railway line connecting Slovenia with Moscow via Csop, which will enhance the presence and good prospects of the Group in the Eastern markets. With the new terminal in Csop, Intereuropa will be able to provide for consolidation and re-loading of goods arriving from entire Europe and from the markets in the former Yugoslav territory, and bound for the markets emerging in the former Soviet Union. Moreover, by launching this terminal into operation, new opportunities will open up offering new products for development, such as the railway transport of containers from China to Moscow via Koper, as well as for the transportation of fruit and vegetables from Israel by railway via Koper.

The construction of the Logistics Centre Moscow-Chechow is the response by Intereuropa to global market opportunities, highlighting the growing segment of car logistics. With this terminal, the Group is making a step forward in line with the corporate development strategy, which looks to the East, as well as towards building up its presence in the SE Europe. It will involve an increased volume of operations in the Eastern Europe, the management and channelling the goods flows from the SE Europe to the East. The synergy effects of the car logistics will also reflect in the increased turnover of other logistics services offered by the Intereuropa Group - in railway, road transport and terminal services.
Press Release will be available on SEO-net and the website of INTEREUROPA d.d. www.intereuropa.si from 17th March 2008.
