Pursuant to the provisions of the Rules of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange and the valid legislation, Telekom Slovenije, d.d., Cigaletova 15, Ljubljana, hereby publishes the following notification:

At its 28th regular meeting on Tuesday, 27 August 2019, the Telekom Slovenije Supervisory Board appointed mag. Matjaž Merkan as the new President of the Management Board. Matjaž Merkan will begin his four-year term as the President of the Management Board of Telekom Slovenije, d.d., on 16 September 2019.  

The procedure of selecting and appointing the President of the Management Board of Telekom Slovenije, d.d., was headed by the HR Committee of the Supervisory Board od Telekom Slovenije, d.d. With the assistance of the human resource agency Competo, the HR Committee completed the procedure of selecting the potential candidates for the President of the Management Board, and from a list of 33 potential candidates, shortlisted three. After conducting structured interviews, assessing the candidates and their presentations of their vision of managing the company, the HR Committee proposed to the Supervisory Board of Telekom Slovenije, d.d., to appoint mag. Matjaž Merkan as the President of the Management Board of Telekom Slovenije, d.d.

Telekom Slovenije, d.d., shall not disclose the names of other candidates in line with the Personal Data Protection Act.

Matjaž Merkan is a master of science (Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Maribor) and a bachelor of physics (Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana), with more than 20 years of experience in managing companies, business areas and teams. Since April 2019 he has been the Advisor to the Managing Director of Weiler Abrasives, d.o.o. He has been with the company – which until September 2018 went under the name of Swatycomet, d.o.o. – since June 2010, first as the director of the strategic business unit, and in February 2013 he took over as the Managing Director. He headed the company until March 2019, and under his management the company improved profitability, entered new markets, upgraded the process of developing products and technologies, optimized manufacturing processes, introduced changes to the organizational culture, and upgraded the employee development system, while also integrating into one of the leading global companies in the abrasives industry. Before that he was the CEO of Siteco Sistemi, d.o.o. between December 2005 and May 2010, and from October 2001 and to November 2005 he was the Director of Sales and Marketing at Siteco, d.o.o. He began his business career in June 1996 at Elektrokovina svetilke, d.o.o., first as a sales engineer, and between August 1997 and September 2001 he headed sales and marketing at the company.
