LUKA KOPER, d.d., Koper

Luka Koper expands its inland terminal network

Luka Koper d.d. currently holds one third of Rail Port Arad, a Romanian company which it owns in conjunction with its Hungarian partner MAV Cargo and the Slovak Trade Trans Invest. At year's end this new enterprise is to construct an inland terminal at a strategically important point on the Fourth European Transport Corridor near the city of Arad in western Romania.
Covering some 10 hectares, and with an anticipated throughput capacity of 60,000 TEUs per annum, the new terminal facility represents a 1.5 million euro investment. The Arad terminal, which will be directly connected by block train services with Luka Koper's European Logistics Centre in Sežana, will also facilitate an increase in container throughput at the Port of Koper, which itself handled 305,648 TEUs during 2007.
The Arad inland container terminal is a part of a larger logistics centre, which covers an area of 55 hectares. The centre is controlled and managed by Trade Trans Terminal, a company in which Luka Koper enjoys a 26% stake.
This information will be available on company's website www.luka-kp.si from 12th February 2008 on.
