LUKA KOPER, d.d., Koper

Ecopark - Luka Koper Ecological Projects

At its 25th session, held on 2nd July 2008, the Supervisory Board of Luka Koper d.d. adopted the proposal by the Management Board as to the amendment of the company's statute which - among other things - introduces Article 33a, which reads as follows: »A portion of company profit may be used for employee participation in profit in compliance with the Employee Participation in Profit Act.« The final decision on this proposal will be taken by the Shareholder's General Assembly.

The Supervisory Board members were provided a presentation of the Ecopark project, and the scheme to establish a company of that name to administer the peripheral area around the port as well as foster renewable means of energy production. At its previous sessions, the Luka Koper Supervisory Board already endorsed the establishment of three companies that will be a part of the future Ecopark; one will be engaged in photovoltaic energy generation, the second will process waste oil-water mixtures into fuel oil, whilst the third shall be a research institute. The Ecopark will extend over four hectares of land adjacent the new main entrance to the port, and shall also encompass the city's existing municipal sewerage treatment plant. In addition, the Ecopark will also become the site of a regional refuse processing centre, where, in the context of a combined heat and power plant, reprocessed waste will be used to generate electrical energy as well as provide communal heating. All of the above shall be in the context of closed systems, and accordingly no emissions into the environment are anticipated. The project, also supported by Koper Municipality, is yet another step in accomplishing Luka Koper's strategy of becoming a green port.

Finally, the Supervisory Board was informed as to the progress of projects that are already underway, such as the construction of inland terminals at Sežana and Beltinci (both in Slovenia) as well as Arad in Romania.

This information will be available on company's website www.luka-kp.si from 3rd July 2008.
