PAL-87/25 Ljubljanska borza, d. d., Ljubljana Ljubljana Stock Exchange Strategy to 2028 Today, 2 April 2025, the management board of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange presented the Ljubljana Stock Exchange's strategy to 2028 to the public.
Mag. Nina Vičar, Member of the Management Board of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, introduced the key shifts and challenges that have shaped the market since 2007, and emphasised that "the Ljubljana Stock Exchange has gone through diverse periods in the past and has made significant progress in the provision of its services and in the optimisation of its internal operations. At the same time, it has faced negative trends in the number of issuers on the exchange, a decline in market capitalisation turnover and a lack of new listings." All this has prevented the stock exchange and the Slovenian capital market from making major development breakthroughs.
She was joined by the President of the Management Board, Marko Bombač, CFA, FRM, who added key reasons that have limited the development of the market in the past, including the low presence of retail investors, the small size of Slovenian pension funds, the lack of financial literacy, and weak institutional support for the development of the capital market.
Despite these challenges, the management of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange believes that better times are ahead. The Exchange has set itself a vision to at least double its revenue growth[1] by 2028 and, as a result, strengthen its leading position in the Adria region. The new strategy aims not only at business growth, but also at contributing to the development of the Slovenian capital market, higher financial literacy and long-term benefits for issuers, investors and the economy as a whole, where support and cooperation with all relevant stakeholders will also be key.
Its focus will be on five strategic goals:
- Increase in turnover of capitalisation by 25% and net increase in the number of instruments by 15.
- Develop new products and services.
- Focused on stakeholders' satisfaction and trust.
- Improving business excellence.
- Focused on long-term profitability.
The Ljubljana Stock Exchange is committed to the renewal and revitalisation of the market in the coming years, and its management stands firmly behind its mission. "If 2023 represents a low point in the Ljubljana Stock Exchange's business by many measures, I consider last year to be a turning point in dynamics. We are confident that - in cooperation with stakeholders from the wider environment and implementing the measures set out in the new strategy - we will achieve the vision we have set ourselves," Marko Bombač.
