On Friday, 5 September, InterCapital ETF, has listed its newest product on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange – the InterCapital Romania EUR Government Bond UCITS ETF (ICGRO). This marks the company’s first bond ETF and completes its product offering in Slovenia.

The new ETF invests in euro-denominated government bonds issued by Romania with maturities between 5 and 10 years. The portfolio is actively managed to maintain an average target maturity of around 7.5 years, giving investors exposure to medium-term Romanian sovereign debt. The fund is structured as a UCITS ETF, ensuring full regulatory transparency and investor protection. It charges a management fee of 0.5% per year, with a total expense ratio (TER) of approximately 1.0% annually, making it significantly more cost-efficient than many traditional bond funds.

At present, Romanian government bonds offer one of the highest yields among euro-denominated sovereign bonds in the EU, reflecting political and fiscal challenges such as a high deficit and elevated current account imbalance. The new Romanian government has taken decisive steps to reduce these imbalances, and any progress in fiscal consolidation could trigger spread compression. In such a scenario, investors in ICGRO could benefit not only from the ongoing yield but also from potential capital gains.
