An important step in developing of a state-of-the-art technological-logistic centre for the manufacturing of kitchen furniture in Central Europe.

Gorenje opened a new factory in Maribor

Maribor, Slovenia, 18 October 2007 - Gorenje, one of the largest European manufacturers of domestic appliances and home accessories, today opened a new factory within a state-of-the -art technological-logistic centre for the manufacturing of kitchen furniture in Central Europe, which is located in Maribor.

4,000 m2 large production plant was started with the construction in the middle of May this year and at the beginning of August the technological equipment were set up. The investment of EUR 2 million is intended for the storage and assembling of the kitchen furniture. The production of semi-manufactures is taking place in the linking production hall. Since the acquisition of the company Marles in the year 2000, the company Gorenje Notranja oprema increased the production capacity of the kitchen component parts at this location for 35 %. In the year 2008 more than 200,000 kitchen component parts are planed to be produced, mostly for the EU markets.

In the production area of Gorenje in Šoštanj, Slovenia, the new production premises of the 9,000 m2 area were on the 16 October 2007 officially opened. The value of this investment into the new production hall, amounted to EUR 7 million. With this investment the working and technical conditions for the development of the industrial equipment business area are improved. One third of this hall will be earmarked for the new business - Supply and Delivery of Armoured Modular Wheeled Vehicles for the Slovenian Army.
