LUKA KOPER, d.d., Koper
Contract signed for dredging and regulation of Passenger Terminal quayside
On 22nd September 2010, in accordance with the Public Procurement Act RS and on the basis of a public tender procedure, Luka Koper signed a contract on the development of its Passenger Terminal with the Ajdovščina based company Primorje d.d. Works along the 420-metre-long wharf anticipate the rehabilitation of the existing quayside and seabed dredging to a depth of ten metres. Primorje is already engaged in operational planning for the site and shall commence field work immediately upon acquisition of the building permit. Completion is anticipated 240 days from the date of contract signing whilst the total value of the works amounts to 1.59 million euros.
Seabed dredging and quayside reconstruction is of key significance for the development of Koper’s Passenger Terminal; indeed, the arrival of ever-larger vessels has necessitated this development, thus next summer the Port of Koper will be ready to accept the largest cruise liners. At the same time this investment shall also be a welcome gain for Luka Koper‘s General Cargo Terminal, which is also to use a portion of the reconstructed quayside.
